NASHVILLE, Oct. 26 (UPI) — Jordin Tootoo’s third-period  
goal was the eventual game-winner Saturday night when the Nashville
Predators shaded the Los Angeles Kings 5-4.
The veteran right wing scored at 12:43 of the third, giving  
Nashville a 5-2 advantage.
Four other Nashville players scored once each. Right wing  
Patric Hornqvist had two first period assists, while goalie Dan
Ellis stopped 26-of-30 shots for the Predators, who have won two of
three.
LA center Jarret Stoll scored twice. Dustin Brown and  
Alexander Frolov scored once each.
Jason LaBarbera started in net, but was pulled after giving  
up three goals on 15 shots. His replacement, Erik Ersberg, stopped
10-of-12 shots for the Kings, who had won three of four.
Nashville went 2-for-3 on the power play. Los Angeles  
finished 1-for-6.

DALLAS, Oct. 26 (UPI) — Alexander Semin’s goal at 2:17 of  
overtime Saturday night boosted the Washington Capitals to a 6-5
victory against the Dallas Stars.
Former Capital center Mike Modano created a 5-5 tie by  
scoring in the final 57 seconds in the third period.
Washington’s Tomas Fleischmann and Sergei Fedorov scored  
twice and Tyler Sloan once. Semin added two assists, and goalie Jose
Theodore was beaten five times on 33 Dallas shots, but helped the
Capitals break a three-game losing streak.
Fedorov’s first goal this season gave him 474 in his career,  
making him the highest-scoring Russian-born player in NHL history.
Four other Dallas players scored once. Modano added two  
assists and goalie Marty Turco yielded six goals on 30 shots for the
Stars, who have dropped two of three.
Dallas has won five of the last eight contests between the  
teams, but Washington has won the last two meetings.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 25 (UPI) — Brian Boucher’s 
second shutout in as many starts this season led the San Jose
Sharks’ 3-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday night.
The nine-year NHL veteran turned away all 22 shots he faced. 
The only goal he would need was scored by center Marcel Goc at 7:57
of the second period.
Later goals came from Ryane Clowe (power play in the second) 
and Devin Setoguchi in the third for the Sharks, who have won three
of their last four contests. Former Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle
had an assist in his first trip back to Tampa Bay, where he spent
the last five-plus seasons.
Netminder Mike Smith was beaten three times on 45 shots in 
the Lightning’s first contest since a 3-2 overtime victory against
Atlanta last Tuesday.
